Bowlsworld was established in 1992 by Martin Curtis. Martin now 46 has been playing bowls since the age of 13 and during that time has won various County honours. Like most bowlers he was finding it very difficult to obtain the bowling equipment, and advice he was looking for from the general sports shops. After being made redundant, he set about changing this, by opening a Specialist Bowls Shop, selling all the equipment the bowler could ever need, also offering his customers advice and guidance he has gained through his many years experience in the bowling world. The shop is run by Martin and his wife Mandy, and is situated on the fringe of Ipswich Town centre. (location map) the shop is well supported by around 20 Club outlets across East Anglia, which are regularly serviced by the mobile shop.

After 15 years the business is flourishing and martin believes this is down to the personal service and good advice his customers enjoy, which leads to many recommendations. He is determined that as the business continues to grow that it will not lose its “personal touch” that has give the business such a firm footing.

Martin maintains that he will never stock any products that he would not be happy to use themselves; “I am not willing to compromise my integrity by going down the rocky road of selling cheap, inferior products, just to say that we are the” cheapest prices in the World”. "I am proud to say that our customers trust our advice and judgement, and many become to think of us as friends.....why would I want to do anything that could jeopardise that".
